I came across an amazing video from the FStoppers on photographing watches. It reminds me of a once-upon-a-time assignment of shooting watches during the BaselWorld & SIHH of 2006. I went for 3 years in a row. It was a crazy time for photography. I was part of a team to shoot watches for the Revolution Magazine back home. They feature all the latest trends in the world of watches.
We would go to a brand booth and we would have about 10 – 20 minutes to shoot about 10-20 watches individually on a black velvet tray. And sometimes there were portraitures to be shot too during that 20 minutes window. Watches are amongst the most challenging to photograph. But it was also during this time that I fell in love with a Rolex watch, the GMT Master II. Crazy times indeed.
